In this three session workshop we will learn:

§ Permaculture principles and strategies

§ Planning a food forest

§ Implementation and field trip

Design and create your home-scale edible food forest using permaculture design tools.

Permaculture involves consciously designing landscapes, which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature while yielding an abundance of food, fuel, fiber, fodder, fertilizer, “farmaceuticals" and fun. Learn how to create self-renewing, self-fertilizing, self-managing and very low maintenance, perennial gardens.

This workshop will offer an overview of forest ecology, site analysis and assessment, the design process, and introduction to some lesser known plants that can comprise ‘perennial polycultures’. There will be interactive lectures and group work, as well as hands-on experiential learning.
